Co-Founders

FIDE Candidate Master and USCF National Master Alex Chen

Alex Chen is one of the co-founders for Chess2All. Alex reached National Master at the age of 14. As a more experienced player, he is dedicated to bringing chess for EVERYONE regardless of background, specifically towards low-income ares for those who cannot afford chess. Chess has taught Alex so much more than a board game. It taught him life  you win, you lose, and you work harder. Beside Chess, Alex has played travel soccer for over eight years and enjoys running for the Green Hope cross country & track/field team . He is truly excited to be apart of this remarkable journey in hopes of serving the community that made him who he is today.
His chess achievements include:
  • ​North American Junior Chess Championship U16 Bronze Medalist, 2019
  • Top 20 Player in the State of North Carolina
  • NC K5, K8 State Champion
  • US National Team Grade Champion, 2017
  • One of the youngest National Masters in North Carolina Chess History
  • 2nd in 2018 US Junior High Chess Championship
  • National 2nd Place Team Champion, November 2019
  • 2020 U.S Amateur South Team Champion
  • USCF Certified Chess Coach and Certified Tournament Director
Angela Chen

Angela is one of the co-founders of Chess2All. She is a devoted and compassionate chess coach who has plenty of experience teaching children the game of chess. Angela's other hobbies include reading, writing, playing volleyball, and debating. She has also won the Scholastic National Gold Medal for writing. Angela is very passionate about teaching chess and one of her main goals is to expand the game of chess to more girls. Growing up, her brother taught her how to play chess, and every since that day she has been learning more and more from this beautiful game. Angela stands strong in Chess2All's goal of spreading chess and it's benefits to everyone, regardless of their background.

Her chess achievements include:
  • 2nd place 2016 K-8 NC All Girls State Championship
  • 2nd place 2017 NC All Girls State Championship
  • Qualifier for the Susan Polgar Foundation Girls tournament
  • ​USCF Certified Chess Coach and Certified Tournament Director​

Her Speech and Debate achievements include: 
  • Qualified for all the National Speech & Debate tournaments (TOC, NSDA, NCFL & NIETOC)
    • 2X TOC & NCFL Qualifier
  • 2022 TOC Semi-finalist + 2021 TOC Quarterfinalist
  • 2022 NCFL Octafinalist
  • Champions at many regional tournaments
  • Finalist at many National scale tournaments
