NM Alex Chen

Alex reached National Master at the age of 14. As a more experienced player, he is dedicated to bringing chess for EVERYONE regardless of background. Chess has taught Alex so much more than a board game. It taught him life: you win, you lose, and you work harder. Beside chess, Alex has played travel soccer for over eight years and enjoys running for the Green Hope cross country & track/field team . He is truly excited to be apart of this remarkable journey in hopes of serving the community that made him who he is today.

Angela Chen
Co-founder
Angela is a devoted and compassionate chess coach who has plenty of experience teaching children the game of chess. Angela's other hobbies include reading, writing, playing volleyball, and debating. She has also won the Scholastic National Gold Medal for writing. Angela is very passionate about teaching chess and one of her main goals is to expand the game of chess to more girls. Growing up, her brother taught her how to play chess, and every since that day she has been learning more and more from this beautiful game.

GM Magesh Panchanathan

Magesh has been playing for more than 25 years as a competitive player. He completed his Grandmaster title in the year 2005 by winning the World Open Championship held in Philadelphia, PA. Magesh has more than 8 years of teaching experience for players of all levels, all the way from complete beginners to FIDE Masters. Magesh was also the coach of the Indian team in the World Junior Championship in 2009 in Argentina.

WFM Anuprita Patil
Senior Advisor
Anuprita is a Women FIDE Master and a FIDE certified Chess Trainer. She has been playing chess for more than 15 years now and has also been an active chess teacher for the past 10 years. Anuprita is currently ranked top 30 among current women players in India and US. Anuprita has also participated in several International chess tournaments all over the world.

Sam Indermaur

Sam is a passionate chess player, teacher, and tournament director. He first learned chess at the age of 4, from his dad. Since then, chess has become an immense part of Sam’s daily life. He has enjoyed volunteering at the Hunter Chess Club with his parents, helping the Indermaur Chess Foundation, as well as helping out the Triangle Chess Center. Aside from chess, Sam enjoys academic competitions, economics, and geography. Sam has also won and placed in the top 10 for chess at local, state, and national competitions. Sam truly enjoys chess and hopes to continue helping and growing the community.

NM Emmanuel Carter
Instructor
Emmanuel Carter learned chess at the young age of 7 from his father. Ever since, he was self-taught and became a Chess Master at the age of 14. He has won the North Carolina k-12 state championship 5 times and has a peak rating of 2301. He has taught chess to over 100 of students and is truly excited to share his passion of chess towards others.
